Developing Countries Decry "Problematic" Loss and Damage Funding Gaps as Global “Fill The Fund” Campaign Launches to Demand Rich Nations #PayUp

CEBU, PHILIPPINES, July 10, 2025 – Live from the 6th UN Loss and Damage Fund Board Meeting, developing country representatives have issued a critical statement expressing deep concern over the "scale and status of resources" for the Fund. They noted that a lack of transparency and unpaid pledges from contributors is "severely limiting" the ability to program funds.

In direct response, a global coalition representing thousands of organizations has launched the “Fill The Fund” campaign to demand wealthy nations and polluters honor their commitments, turn promises into payments, and adequately finance the Fund.
